“Soft Offices” are in! It has been noted that the typical “office set-up” has been evolving to suit the needs of the changing times. Gone are the days where offices had to be plain, boring, conventional and adorned with old office furnitures. Today, the office furniture designers have expanded to reach a wider variety of the office-goer’s choice. No more conventional office chairs, because even the traditional-looking ones have been upgraded to look modernly sophisticated, and in tact with all the right ergonomic features. But the latest trend in the office furniture industry is the ideal set-up for “soft offices”. This means that the edges are lessened and the seats are more cushioned to imbibe that soft, comfortable feel.
Manufacturers claim that offices are no longer intimidating environments mapped out with cubicles and panel systems designed to keep the employees focused on their work. Instead, the trend today has become all about being “fluid” to nourish a certain kind of “creative environment”, to the extent that some offices are even adding beds. A company head has even confided that they wanted to achieve a place that would say “this is where work is done, but that would also facilitate creative work.”
This kind of mentality can be explained through the advent of hi-tech office equipment such as laptops and desktops, the printers, and even the photocopying machines. These electrical devices make the office seem a bit too edgy, boxed-up and stiff so people tend to go for their need to find comfort in a soft location. Adding simple touches of a good couch as a substitute to the standard reception area chairs, or a little fluffy office chair in every workstation will do a lot. But the best part here, is that they make the office a comfortable place to be in even for more than eight hours a day.
