Office Furniture for Start Ups – Part 2

June 12th, 2007

Bulky and robust office desks do the job. They are sturdy enough to accommodate many other office components like computers and its peripherals. The thing is, not all are comfortable in use. Be sure to get something stylish but comfortable and ergonomic as well simply because of the fact that it you and your employees who will be using the desks for many hours a day.

Personal computers are now basic tools in any office. They mostly sit in top of the office desk. If you happen to be using one, get a desk which will work effectively with the PC, specifically with the wires and cables.

Check if the desk you are about to get is adjustable. This feature plays a very important role in offices with rotating shifts. Employees will be able to customize how they occupy the desk thus providing better efficiency.

If you buy a desk or item of furniture second hand, remember to test whether the moving parts are working properly (E.g.: Do the drawers open, does the keyboard rack move properly. You also need to make sure that if there is a lock, that it works, and that you are given a key to it!

Chairs

Office chairs support its occupants for the longest of hours. In fact, it is the only office furniture that gives workers the real feel of furniture. When purchasing chairs for the office, make sure that they support the lumbar region of the back. This is mostly where back injuries are incurred.

By paying a bit more for adjustable height chairs with arm supports and a high-back, your employees can setup their work environment to be comfortable, and therefore be more productive. This is especially important when your employees are using computers, and may be sat in the same area for long periods of time.
