Bring proper lighting to your home office—this is the primary concern since most likely, you will just be occupying an unused room and fill it with good office furnitures. Consider the working environment in your home. If you feel fatigued or tense, or have tired eyes, or maybe you feel relaxed and peaceful; believe it or not, they all depend on the proper lighting. The proper illumination, coupled with the ultimate ergonomic office furniture will give you the ultimate home office. You may be surprised at how much lighting can do for the place. But, did you know that en even lighting is not ideal for your home office? If we happen to work in a space where a uniform type of lighting is implemented, this can cause a lot of distractions to our eyes.
Hence, it is best advised to use indirect lighting sources. Lighting fixtures should be included in your list of “office furnitures to buy”, and make sure that they give the right illumination to the room. For instance, a fixture that reflects off of the ceiling back down into the space is the least glaring and the most comforting angle to the to eye. It is ideal to create different layers of light—different intensities at different angles. It is also a good idea to have an adjustable source of light that is close to your reading and writing tasks. Try using an adjustable table or desk lamp near your work area, and make sure that you can adjust the intensity and angle of the light for the particular task you’re completing.
Here is one way to create a well-lit room: Lighten up the walls. Home offices definitely require the use of the computers. And when your eyes are drained from staying too long in front of the computer, the contrast between the dark room around and the monitor will be strenuous. Hence, try painting the walls with light shades only. Also, make sure that all the fixtures will not cause glare like granite or metallic finishes. Place the ceiling fixtures either behind the office desk or to its side. Follow these aspects and you will be able to enjoy your very own well-lit home office.
