There are a lot of physical pains that stem from the office. Strenuous physical pain such as back aches, wrist pain and even carpal tunnel syndrome can be the major ailments that you might get from typing, and sitting in the wrong position. But did you know that another ailment has been added to this family of pain? And it is called the Deep Vain Thrombosis or the DVT.
This pain is brought about by immobility, so it is really not the fault of bad office furnitures, but just the fact that you are stuck in your seat behind your desk for several hours a day. E-thrombosis is the condition that has been brought to the attention of the masses after one man suffered from it, having a clot that reached his lungs. DVT is common among long flights where the passengers are confined in a small space only for a long period of time. This causes blood circulation problems which will develop blood clots.
Doctors have confirmed that sitting for long periods of time in your workstation can indeed cause the DVT to take place. So what you should do is to take short breaks to stretch your legs for a while. Walk around to the other side of the office or to the pantry and try standing while finishing a cup of coffee. That could help the blood circulation to flow down your legs. This is much more complicated because unlike back aches, tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, the DVT is not caused by external forces such as lack of having ergonomic office furnitures. DVT is acquired because you have allowed yourself to get stuck in that seat for hours, so think better and stretch those legs.
