Ergonomics in the office has an integral role to fulfill since it has been given that they provide great comfort to the employees, which is relevant to boost their productivity. So aside from conducting lectures about the correct sitting position and setting up good medical insurance plans, then why not invest on highly ergonomic office furnitures instead? Here are the five things that you should know to boost the ergonomics in your office:
Set up computer stations properly. Remember that office desks serve a different function than that of a computer table, so do make sure to avail one that will cater to all the requirements of the computer and its peripherals. Keep in mind that the wrong keyboard height may cause wrist, back, neck, and shoulder strain. Check the placing of the computer monitors as well. They should be set up in a way that the top line of type is between the eye level and about 15 degrees below eye level. You would not want to hurt your employee’s eyes so bear these in mind.
Buy adjustable chairs. Ergonomic office chairs play very important roles in the office. They bring support to the body and they provide comfort by enhancing our sitting position. Adjustable chairs are highly recommended, for they can be fit to the ones who have body structures that are not typical. They should have adjustable heights, a rotating five-wheel base, reclining seats and backrests.
Keep muscles fresh by providing support and adjusting position. The right body support should enable blood flow, in order to carry on oxygen to the muscles and to push away waste. Consider buying forearm rests and cushions for a much comfortable typing or even footrests because not all employees can plant their feet squarely on the floor.
Organize the desks, or allow more storage of important files. Keep everything that the employee needs within his reach.
If you, or an employee begins to experience physical discomfort at work, act immediately. Do not delay these pressing matters because it might only get worse. More importantly, have regular check-ups to see what went wrong despite all the material efforts.
